Remove Safe.search.tools Browser Redirect
What is a browser hijacker
Safe.search.tools is a browser hijacker website that will be set as your homepage and new tabs if you have a certain hijacker installed. This is not a serious infection but it will be annoying to deal with because of the changes it performs to your browser. You will have a site you did not choose set as your homepage and new tabs, and you may be redirected to sponsored content so that the hijacker could generate income.
While we say that hijackers are not serious infections, it should be mentioned that some might be able to lead you to malicious sites where malware is lurking. This could lead to a more serious infection taking place on your computer so we recommend against using the hijacker provided services. And infection usually happens when users install freeware and completely miss added offers that install automatically, unless they are deselected. If you want to go back to usual browsing, you will need to delete Safe.search.tools.
How are hijackers distributed?
Browser hijackers are added to freeware as extra offers that you need to deselect in order to stop their installation. This can be done in Advanced or Custom settings of the freeware installation process. Those settings will show you if something has been added and you will be allowed to uncheck everything. Make sure you uncheck all the boxes because otherwise you will end up allowing everything to install. And having to remove Safe.search.tools is much more difficult than it would be to deselect a couple of boxes.
Why uninstall Safe.search.tools?
As soon as the hijacker installs, you will know. It will change your browser’s settings, set a weird site as your homepage, thus the infection will be very obvious. This will happen to all major browsers, such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer, so expect them to all have different homepages. Those changes will be irreversible, unless you first delete Safe.search.tools. Your new homepage advertises a search engine that supposedly makes searching safer but you should be careful in case if inserts sponsored content into the results. Some hijackers are also able to lead to malicious websites because they do not ensure that the sites you are led to are safe. So you could end up with some kind of malware infection if you are not careful. The hijacker could also be gathering certain kind of data about your browsing habits so that it could offer more personalized content. In short, the hijacker will do nothing but disrupt your browsing. So you should remove Safe.search.tools.
