Picexa – How to remove?

Picexa is a picture viewer program that computer security experts label as a potentially unwanted application. It is recommended that you remove Picexa from your computer because this application usually comes with other unwanted programs. Although Picexa cannot cause any direct damage to your computer’s security, you should be very careful about what programs you install on your system together with Picexa. Your best choice in this situation would be investing in a licensed antispyware tool that would help you protect your system from harm. At the same time, you would be able to remove all the potential threats automatically.

One of the reasons we find Picexa extremely suspicious is that this application cannot be downloaded from its official homepage. Picexa.com may provide you with the basic information on this application, but clicking the download button does not lead you anywhere. It does not initiate the download, so it would seem that the only way for Picexa to spread around is through software packages. Therefore, it is not surprising that Picexa gets installed on target computers with such annoying applications as PC Optimizer Pro or BoBrowser. It is also obvious that when you get around to deleting Picexa, you need to remove the aforementioned programs, too.

According to our research, Picexa has been developed and signed by the same developer as Winzipper application. The name of the developer is said to be “Taiwan Shui Mu Chih Ching Technology Limited.” Unlike most of the adware applications and similar potentially unwanted programs, Picexa does not add any extension to your default browser. The application simply runs a process called “picexasvc.exe.”

The official website claims that Picexa is a “totally new image engine” that raises display speed by 50%. However, we have grounds to believe that this application could be related to malware distribution, and keeping the app on your computer could result in serious security issues. Our research team says that Picexa can connect to the Internet behind your back and download a Trojan infection or other malware onto your computer.

Needless to say, you need to do everything you can to prevent that from happening. You should start with Picexa and other related applications by removing them from your system. It is possible uninstall them all via Control Panel, but if you think there might be some other malicious applications on-board, then do yourself a favor and run a full system scan with the SpyHunter free scanner.

Invest in a legitimate computer security application to protect your system from harm. And should you have any further questions related to ensuring your system’s stability, please leave us a comment.
