Cryptowall Removal

What is CryptoWall?

CryptoWall is a malicious infection often classified as ransomware. It can infiltrate your computer with the help of various Trojans like TrojanDownloader:Win32/Upatre, TrojanDownloader:Win32/Onkods, and many more. It is also very likely that the ransomware is not the only harmful application on your PC. The main symptom of CryptoWall is the fact that it encrypts your data and demands that you pay a fee to get it back. Making deals with cyber criminals and hoping that they will hold up their end of the bargain is not something we would advise. The cyber crooks cannot be trusted, which means that you should not pay them anything. What you should do is get rid of CryptoWall right away.

How does CryptoWall work?

CryptoWall can infect your PC no matter which Windows system you are using. After the infiltration, it starts the encryption process. The parasite encrypts documents, photos, videos, game files, etc. with a strong encryption. All encrypted files have an extension added to them. If you try to open them, you will be unable to do so. The malware then creates several files that contain instructions on how to decrypt your data. It may also replace your desktop background with these instructions. You will be asked to pay 500USD/EUR in Bitcoins within a certain amount of time. If you do not pay them in time, they claim that the sum of the ransom will be doubled.

Needless to say that losing your data in not pleasant. However, the problem is that paying cyber criminals is not likely to help you recover it either. We urge you against wasting your money in such a way and supporting people who have created the malware in the first place. There are several options that you may try in order to restore your files. If you have backup, use it to copy your files back onto your PC. If not, you can search for reliable file-decryption tools online or use Shadow Explorer. Please note that before you do any of that, you need to eliminate CryptoWall from your computer.
